Coastal Cottage Bedroom Design

http://olioboard.com/boards/31750-sun-bleached-and-sandy

One of my favorite places to spend some time, Olioboard, is having a really fun contest. The challenge is to design a bedroom, using only pieces from the Layla Grayce website, to create a Coastal Cottage style bedroom. This is my entry above, I tried to create a design based around this gorgeous coral chandelier from Currey and Company (sold at Layla Grayce).

I was inspired by the subtle texture and creamy, white colours. I imagine a bedroom with lots of windows (and an ocean view), perhaps white washed walls and painted white, wooden floors. Some where inspired by seashells, coral and the sun and sand.

French Chic

http://olioboard.com/boards/30053-french-living

French style interiors seem to be popping up all over the place. I love the subtle colour palettes and nods to the past through antique pieces and reproduction furniture. My mood board above, is made up from select pieces from Wisteria. They carry such a unique and varied stock. I tool my inspiration from the beautiful French Country style pillow. Then I added in the aqua, porcelain lamp and framed cameos. I think that the mirror would look great over the end table or something similar, like the gorgeous room below. I love the idea gilt furniture, moldings, and more contemporary lighting and upholstered pieces to create a "French Chic" style room.

Low Country Style

There's something so enticing, about Low Country style houses. They have that relaxed mix of country, coastal and West Indies that just works together perfectly. I can imagine sitting on the porch and feeling the breeze come off of the ocean or marshland.. I love the use of shutters and carriage house style lighting. A red brick pathway in a herringbone pattern, flanked by lush greenery and palms in this photo above looks so inviting...

The South is such an interesting place, full of history and secrets. I feel like it has such a mysterious aura around it. From 'Gone with the Wind' to 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,' there are stories behind each shutter and iron gate.

Mix a drink from the bar and enjoy the view!

Upholstered Headboards

via decorpad

I remember having a pink velvet, tufted headboard as a kid, with My Little Pony wallpaper... I loved it! In fact, up until a couple of years ago, my parents still had their brown velvet, tufted headboard also!! lol. Let's just say that upholstered headboards have come a long way since then. You often see designers on HGTV using them. I know that Sarah Richardson and Candice Olson often favor this look and create some stunning one of a kind headboards for their clients. Here are some gorgeous photos of headboards that caught my eye. I also love how the nightstands are styled. This image above, for example, what a great idea to use mathcing lamps and mirrors on either side. Especially when the headboard is so ornate... I can't imagine hanging anything over this bed and distracting the eye from it's scrolling curves!

Beautiful Bars

Phoebe Howard
I'm not a Southerner, but I have noticed how popular bar areas are in a lot of Southern homes. When I imagine Southern homes of bygone days, I envision beautiful dinner parties with all sorts of drinks on hand to entertain and lazy Summer days sitting on the porch sipping something refreshing. I love the idea of a bar area in our next house.

It seems like there is a bar style out there for everyone. Whether you have space for a small bar cart, a console or buffet, even just a small tray corralling all your bottles and glasses. Whether you collect antiques, love contemporary design or prefer something more rustic, there's a bar out there for you!!

Bedroom Tweeks

http://olioboard.com/users/sallyjl

I know I'm not the only one who is constantly thinking of ways to improve every room in their house... am I?? I would love to create a more soothing bedroom like my inspiration below. I love the muted colour palette and airy feel these rooms create. In our new house (where we can finally paint!) I would paint the walls a soft blue/gray like the one on my moodboard - Behr Falling Snow or Behr Snow Ballet. Then bring in colour with these gorgeous Etsy pillows and some silk drapes. A neutral rug in sisal/jute with a subtle pattern to it and some brand new, contemporary crystal lamps. Not forgetting of course a pretty antique looking sunburst for over the bed!

Bedroom...... blah....
to bedroom aaahhhhhh!

Dining Room Envy

http://www.phoebehoward.net/

I am totally smitten with this gorgeous dining room "after" from Phoebe Howard. I love the soft gold, cream colour palette with the light teal blue dining cushions. It is so elegant and tasteful. After bumping into one of my hurricane sconces (from the now gone, Bombay Company).. I want to do a total dining room overhaul. Although, this wont be happening for a while, with moving cross country and all.. When it is finally plausible, I would love two of these pretty sconces from Candice Olson.

I think that Tobi Fairley did an awesome job on this last dining room too...
